What we see in EdTech

### Where EdTech products lose learners and what Other Land fixes first

#### Course discovery and choice

Catalog, program pages, and comparison that narrow the choice instead of widening it. Format, length, level, and outcome, visible at a glance.

#### Trust is the real conversion driver

Who teaches, what the syllabus actually covers, what changes after. Proof placed where the doubt appears, not at the bottom of the page.

#### Questions your sales team keeps repeating

Workload, schedule, certification, refunds, team pricing. If the page answers them, sales spends the call closing instead of explaining.

#### Checkout for a considered purchase

Price is rarely one click. Trials, installments, seats, invoices, and corporate approval, designed as steps that don't lose users.

#### Learning that keeps learners moving

A clear next action on every screen, visible progress, and small wins. Motivation is a layout problem before it's a content problem.

#### Completion is the metric

Gamification that fits adult learners, with progress, streaks, feedback and nudges at the moment of drop-off, not after it.

B2C and B2B

### Other Land designs both sides of the EdTech sale

#### B2C, one learner

The decision is fast and emotional. We design the landing page, course page, trial and the first lesson that proves the purchase.

#### B2B, a buying group

An L&D lead builds the case, finance approves it, admins roll it out. Checkout handles seats and invoices.

#### B2B, after the sale

Admin panels, team progress and reporting that make the renewal an easy yes for the buyer.

How we work

### Our EdTech product design process

1. Setup
Team, access and where design lives

- We scope the work and pick the people your product needs
- Kickoff with both teams, plus access to your tools and analytics
- We design in Figma, build straight in code, or both, matched to your team
- One to two weeks before design starts, a few days on a four-week sprint

2. Context
The problem first, then solutions

- Learner feedback, reviews and support tickets, read before we design
- Your analytics show where learners drop off, from course page to lessons
- Stakeholder interviews with product, content, sales and support
- Best practices from competing course platforms and LMS
- Then we propose solutions. Your roadmap is one option

3. Sprints
Weekly sprints, design that ships

- We work your backlog, or propose one and agree it with you
- AI for research, prototyping and handoff, matched to your team
- Our design director reviews every screen before you see it
- A weekly update on what shipped and what moved

4. Handoff
Prototypes, files or front-end code

- Screens go over in batches, so review and build start early
- Clickable prototypes of checkout and the learning flow
- Figma files or Claude artifacts your developers can read
- Front-end code for the interface, in Cursor or Claude Code

Why us

### Why EdTech teams choose Other Land

#### Designers who know EdTech

Our designer works on EdTech products and knows how learners decide, pay, drop off and come back.

#### Conversion first

We start where revenue starts, at the course page and checkout, then move on to completion and retention.

#### Tested with learners

Key flows are tested with real learners before they reach your developers, so fixes rest on evidence.

#### One team, every design surface

Product UI, brand, marketing site, pitch deck and lifecycle emails, from one team with one point of view.

#### Figma, code or both

We design in Figma, build straight in code, or both, matched to your team. Our design director signs off every screen.

#### Embedded through release

Your Slack, your sprints, your developers. We stay on a piece past handoff, and scale the team up for a launch and back down after it.

Collaboration models

### Four ways to work with Other Land. Pick the setup that fits you

We have a backlog piling up. Can you join quickly and help?

Embedded Designer
An AI-native product designer who works inside your team, owns your design, and ships on your roadmap. Full-time or part-time, for as long as you need. From 4 weeks

Course pages and checkout leak. Can you fix the funnel?

Project Sprint
A clear scope with a clear outcome. One flow, one funnel, one release. We come in, do the work, and ship it with your team. 1–3 months

We do not know where learners drop off. Can you find it?

UX Diagnostic
A focused look at where your product loses users, backed by your analytics. You get the problems, the causes, and a list of what to fix first. 2 to 6 weeks

We have steady design work, but not a full-time hire's worth.

Fractional Support
Ongoing design help without a full-time hire. A set number of hours each month, for whatever needs doing. Scale up or down anytime. From 40h / month

### EdTech product design questions, answered

#### We get traffic, but few users buy. Where would you start?

Other Land starts with your data. Analytics, session recordings and the steps where users leave the course page or checkout show where the money is lost. Then we agree one metric and what to fix first, usually the course page, the price and payment step, or the path from a free lesson to a paid course. On one online learning platform a new website lifted conversion by 63%, and on a certified-course platform conversion grew 83.7%.

#### Our completion rate is low. Can design actually change that?

Often yes. Most drop-off happens at predictable points, like the first lesson, the first hard task or the return after a break. Other Land maps where learners stop, designs for those moments with clearer progress, shorter first steps and reminders that bring people back, and then measures completion against the baseline. The learning experience is designed end to end, from enrolment to the certificate, so a fix in one lesson does not create a new gap in the next.

#### Do you design B2B learning platforms too?

Yes. Other Land designs both sides of the EdTech sale. On the B2B side that has meant checkout for business buyers and an authoring tool for learning materials, and on the B2C side course funnels, payment flows and certificate flows. The two often live in one product, so the same designer keeps the private learner, the company buyer and the admin consistent instead of designing three products that drift apart.

#### Won't gamification feel childish for professional learners?

It does when it is badges for their own sake. Other Land uses progress, feedback and momentum that map to real outcomes, like a finished module, a passed test or a certificate a learner can show an employer. The visual language stays adult and calm, close to the tools professionals already use at work, so motivation comes from seeing real progress rather than from points.

#### Does Other Land do branding as well as product UI?

Yes. Other Land can refresh the brand and then build the product UI on it, or take your existing brand and turn it into a working design system your developers build from. Doing both with one team keeps the course pages, the checkout and the learning interface looking like one company, which matters most at the moment a learner decides whether to pay.

#### How do we work together, and what does it cost?

Other Land works in weekly sprints and charges every four weeks, like a subscription, with a four-week minimum. You choose the setup: an embedded designer on your roadmap, a project sprint for one funnel or release, a UX diagnostic of two to six weeks, or fractional support from 40 hours a month. After the intro call Other Land sends an estimate based on your actual scope, not a generic rate card.

#### Do you design in Figma or in code?

Both. Other Land designs in Figma when your team reviews there, and straight in code with Claude Code or Cursor when your developers ship with agents, so what you approve is what ships. For a learning platform that means a new lesson or checkout flow reaches real learners sooner, without a separate handoff. A design director reviews every screen either way.

#### Do you follow our roadmap or propose your own?

Both. Other Land defines the problem from learner feedback, analytics, stakeholder insights and what competitors do well, then proposes solutions and the order to ship them in. Working from your existing roadmap is one option, and many teams start there. The difference is that every item gets a clear problem and a metric before design starts, so the roadmap shifts toward what moves enrolment and completion.

#### Have you designed EdTech products before?

Yes, four of them, from online courses to authoring tools: NKI, The Key Academy, eAuthor and Method. NKI, an online learning platform, saw +63% conversion after a full website redesign with a growth design approach, and The Key Academy's certified-course platform saw +83.7% conversion after a checkout flow improvement. One course platform Other Land designs for has 91k active learners a month.
