What we see

### Where do fintech products lose users? The same four things break

Users sign up, reach identity verification, and quietly leave.

KYC and activation
Verification is where fintech products lose the most users. We redesign the sequence, the asks, and the wait so users finish instead of postponing. Activation

Compliance says the disclosure stays. The screen still has to be read.

Simple inside constraints
We design around the legal text that must stay, so the screen still gets read. Order and placement do the work, not deletion. Compliance

Users stop when they cannot tell what a button does to their money.

Trust, one action at a time
Trust in fintech is accumulated, not declared. Every confirmation, amount, fee, and undo path either earns the next action or costs you one. Trust signals

Most of a fintech product is waiting. Under review. Pending. Declined.

The states nobody designs
We design the pending, partial, and rejected states that teams leave to error codes. That is where support tickets and churn come from. Edge states

How we work

### How Other Land improves fintech funnels one metric at a time

1. Problem
We define the problem from your data before any screen

- We agree one metric, like KYC completion or first deposit
- Your analytics first, to see which screen loses users
- Interviews with product, support, compliance and real users
- Competitor best practices for the same KYC or deposit step
- One written problem statement, tied to the metric

2. Solutions
We find the cause, then design against it

- Hypotheses for KYC, onboarding, paywall and deposit steps
- We name the gap, whether it is trust, effort or a reason to act
- Designed in Figma, in code, or both, matched to your team
- AI in the workflow, then design and technical review on every screen
- Your compliance team sees concepts early, not at handoff

3. Testing
We validate against real data, not opinions

- A/B tests where your traffic supports them
- Before and after analytics when a split test is not possible
- Usability tests on KYC and payment flows when volume is low
- The result read in your analytics, not in our deck

4. Iteration
The next hypothesis goes in and the cycle runs again

- We record the result against what we expected
- What did not work gets examined, not dropped
- The next fix is ranked by impact and effort
- You keep the designs, the events and the reasoning

Where else we help

### Other fintech problems Other Land solves

#### Portfolio and balance clarity

Holdings, returns and balances people read at a glance, so they trust what they see and come back to check.

#### Paywalls and subscriptions

Free-to-paid flows tested with A/B experiments, so premium plans convert without hiding the terms.

#### Family and shared accounts

Allowances, roles and permissions for parents, teams or businesses, set up without a support call.

#### Business account onboarding

Company checks, several directors and their roles, designed as one clear flow instead of a pile of forms.

#### Dense transaction views

Lists, filters and statements that stay readable on a phone, with search that finds the payment you mean.

#### Partner and card integrations

Card issuing and banking partner steps designed so they feel like part of your app, not a hand-off.

Deliverables

### Fintech design deliverables

KYC and onboarding flows, from first screen to funded account.

Pending, under review, declined and error states for every flow.

Disclosure and consent screens your compliance team can approve.

Transfer, payment and card flows with amounts, fees and undo paths.

A design system with colour themes, Arabic RTL layouts and WCAG checks.

Finished Figma files, or generative UI built straight in Claude Code or Cursor.

Why us

### Why fintech teams choose Other Land

#### Designers who know fintech

Our designer has shipped fintech before and knows KYC, disclosures, regulation and why every money screen needs extra care.

#### Regulation-aware by default

We simplify screens as far as regulation allows, and work with your compliance and legal reviews, not around them.

#### Embedded in your team

Our designer joins your rituals and works with your product, compliance and engineering leads every week.

#### We own the number

We take one fintech metric, like KYC completion or first deposit, and own it with you to the shipped change.

#### Evidence, then A/B tests

Every change starts from your analytics, support tickets and user interviews, then gets tested with real users.

#### High impact, low effort first

Fixes are ranked by impact and effort, so the changes that pay back fastest ship first and fund the rest.

Who it's for

### Fintech product design for every stage

#### A fintech startup or MVP

Speed and focus. We design KYC around your partner bank's or provider's rules, and aim every screen at first deposit.

#### A fintech scale-up

A fresh view of your funnels or your roadmap. We A/B test onboarding and paywall flows, and one design system keeps new markets consistent.

#### A bank or enterprise

We join your in-house design team and its leadership, work under your security rules, and simplify screens only as far as regulation allows.

Collaboration models

### Four ways to work with Other Land. Pick the setup that fits you

We have a backlog piling up. Can you join quickly and help?

Embedded Designer
An AI-native product designer who works inside your team, owns your design, and ships on your roadmap. Full-time or part-time, for as long as you need. From 4 weeks

KYC and activation leak. We tried a lot. Can you fix it?

Project Sprint
A clear scope with a clear outcome. One flow, one funnel, one release. We come in, do the work, and ship it with your team. 1–3 months

We do not know where in the flow we lose users. Can you find it?

UX Diagnostic
A focused look at where your product loses users, backed by your analytics. You get the problems, the causes, and a list of what to fix first. 2 to 6 weeks

We have steady design work, but not a full-time hire's worth.

Fractional Support
Ongoing design help without a full-time hire. A set number of hours each month, for whatever needs doing. Scale up or down anytime. From 40h / month

### Fintech product design questions, answered

#### Will we get a designer with fintech experience?

Yes. Other Land matches a designer to your product. Our designers have shipped KYC and onboarding, card and account linking, transfers, statements, portfolio views, and back-office tools, inside both banks and startups. On the intro call we tell you which of our designers fits your product and why.
If we do not have the right person free, we say so instead of sending whoever is on the bench. Beyond the individual, the team behind them has worked across fintech products from crypto wallets to regulated retail banking, so patterns from one show up as options in another.

#### How fast can a designer ramp up on a complex fintech product?

Expect confident output in one to two weeks, and useful questions from day two. The first week is spent in your product with a real account, in your analytics, and in conversation with whoever knows the history, such as a PM, a support lead, or a compliance contact.
Complex fintech products are rarely complex in the interface. They are complex in the rules underneath, and those live in people's heads, not in documentation. We map them as we go and give that map back to you, which is often the first useful artefact of the engagement. Design work starts in parallel from week one on a scoped piece rather than waiting for full understanding.

#### How do you design a fintech product around legal constraints?

Other Land treats legal requirements as design inputs. Early on we ask what must be shown, acknowledged, and logged, and which wording is fixed and which is ours to write. Then we design inside it.
In practice most legal requirements constrain what is on the screen, not when or how it appears, and that is where the room usually is, in sequencing, progressive disclosure, and putting the required text where it is read instead of dismissed. We also want your compliance reviewer in the loop early rather than at handoff, because a rejection at the end costs a sprint, and one at concept stage costs an hour.

#### Is it safe to use AI in fintech product design?

Yes, when AI sits in the right part of the process. Other Land uses AI for exploration, variant generation, writing and testing interface copy, and clickable prototypes. Your customer data, production data, and anything under your NDA stay out of third-party models.
If your organisation has an AI policy or an approved tool list, we work inside it, and some teams still prefer a classic Figma workflow. We match the approach and the designer to your product and settle it on the intro call. Banks ask this more often than startups do.

#### How do you fix drop-off in KYC and activation?

First we find out where exactly users stop, because "KYC is a problem" usually turns out to be two or three specific screens. Common culprits are document capture that fails silently on poor photos, an unexplained pause between submission and approval, asking for sensitive data before showing any reason to give it, and no path back after a rejection.
The fixes are rarely about fewer fields. They are about sequencing what you ask for, being honest about how long a review takes, and giving users something to do while they wait. If you have already tried a lot, the value we add is a fresh read plus patterns from products that solved it differently. Start with a UX audit if you want the diagnosis before committing.

#### How quickly can a fintech designer join our team?

Usually within one to two weeks of signing. The fastest path is an embedded designer who takes the backlog as it is, starts shipping the items that are already defined, and reshapes the rest as understanding grows. Real work starts in the first week, alongside discovery.
In the first days we ask for access to the product and analytics, one person who can answer questions without a meeting, and a shared view of which three things matter most this quarter. If the backlog is mostly small, disconnected tasks, fractional support fits better than a full embedded engagement, and we will say so.

#### Can your designers work inside a bank's security rules?

Yes, and with banks this is usually the first thing we set up. We have worked through NDAs, background checks, VPN and VDI access, client-issued laptops and accounts, restricted Figma organisations, and internal-only repositories. Our designers work in your Jira, your Slack or Teams, your design system, and your review process rather than exporting work into ours.
Onboarding through a bank's security process typically takes one to three weeks on your side, so it is worth starting in parallel with the contract rather than after it. Tell us the requirements on the intro call and we will tell you honestly whether they are workable.

#### How is fintech product design priced and billed?

Other Land charges a fixed monthly fee, agreed upfront. A project sprint suits scoped work up to about three months, paid monthly for the weeks we work. An embedded designer joins your team full time at a fixed monthly rate, similar to a salary.
The design director and PM who back your designer are included in the fee. After the intro call you get a written estimate with scope and cost. The minimum commitment is four weeks.

#### Have you designed fintech and banking products before?

Yes, seven of them, from wallets to banks, including Rakbank, Migros Bank, Stockpile, Canopy and Atom. Two banks trusted Other Land with design for their production apps. On one banking app the team designed 1,400+ screens on a design system with 112+ components and five colour themes, and Stockpile saw +17.1% conversion after a series of A/B tests.
